LILAC CITY LIT CRAWLS
Lit Crawls are a program of the Spokane Poet Laureate & Spokane Arts! Concentrating on one neighborhood area at a time, we travel from venue-to-venue at these events listening to local writers reading their poetry or prose. (Like a pub crawl, but with poetry and prose!) Free to attend (but plan on purchasing drinks or food at our generous host stops!) these fun events are a great way to hear new work from our amazing local literary community in an entertaining and relaxed setting.
JUNE 2019 // EMERSON-GARFIELD NEIGHBORHOOD
Join us on Sunday, June 9, for our next Lit Crawl! This time we’ll be exploring spots in the Emerson-Garfield neighborhood as we listen to poetry & prose at bars, shops, and stops along North Monroe Street!
Start at The Hub Tavern (2926 N Monroe) at 4 p.m.! We’ll visit Corbin Park and Hi Neighbor Tavern (2201 N Monroe) before ending at Bellwether Brewing (2019 N Monroe)!
This Lit Crawl's line-up of amazing local authors includes best selling author Jess Walter! Walter is the author of eight books, including the 2013 #1 New York Times bestseller, Beautiful Ruins; The Zero, finalist for the 2006 National Book Award; and Citizen Vince, winner of the 2005 Edgar Allan Poe Award. His work has been published in 32 languages and his short fiction has won a Pushcart Prize and appeared three times in Best American Short Stories.
In addition, we'll enjoy poetry and prose from local writers including Alexis Smith (author of Glaciers and Marrow Island), Ben Cartwright, Aileen Keown Vaux, Aimee Cervenka, Dena Ogden, Zach Alexander, and members of the Spokane Poetry Slam team Nick Keaty and Carlea Baughn!
APRIL 2019 // RIVERSIDE NEIGHBORHOOD

We started at the brand new Glorious Artisan Bakery with readings from local writers Davy Nguyen, Scott Eubanks, and Inga Laurent. With stops at Steady Flow Growler House and Iron Goat Brewery, we ended the night at The Steel Barrel Taproom. Thanks to our awesome readers, fun host stops, and everyone that came out to enjoy the poetry and prose! Keep an eye on our website for details on upcoming Lit Crawl events as we explore new neighborhoods and enjoy different readers through the summer and early fall.
