You’ll find samples of their work, a description of what drives them to create and links to check out their website or social media. Use the roster to discover the incredible talent living right here in our community. Please note: the artist roster is a free resource directory to find artists. Any local artist can add their information. The artists on the roster are not endorsed or represented by Spokane Arts.
In order to foster a thriving creative community where artists can make a living doing their work, Spokane Arts believes in the importance of paying artists. Too often, creatives are asked to provide time, labor, materials, or finished work for free. While most of us wouldn’t ask an electrician, CPA or nurse to provide their professional services at no cost — knowing they trained and studied to gain expertise — artists are often asked to donate their services. Many artists and creatives do choose to donate their time to causes they care deeply about, but to make a living, doing work for free should be the exception, not the rule. We humbly ask you to keep this in mind when contacting creatives on the roster, and know that you can always ask an artist to give you a cost estimate or written proposal to review. Questions? Kolby Deagle
I am based in Spokane, and work largely with watercolor, acrylic, and polymer clay to create 3D artwork. The Surrealist movement, the dramatic scenes of the Baroque period, and the colors and clouds of their Rococo successors have heavily influenced my aesthetic, as well as a childhood diorama obsession. A steady stream of sci-fi novels, historical nonfiction, and podcasts of all kinds fuel the conceptual underpinnings of each piece. As an artist I am interested in creating works that cannot be fully appreciated through a screen. I attempt this by layering individual elements in space so the viewer must move around the artwork to see details available from only certain angles. I also employ a consistent set of symbols and rules throughout my pieces. I am happy if my work resonates with anyone regardless of how you identify, although ultimately everything I make, I make in the hopes that it will be seen by other queer people, and that they in turn will feel seen. Rick Rivera AKA Coach Rick AKA Ricardo Ibarra-Rivera is an Actor, Acting Coach, Life/Health/Business Coach and Creative residing in Spokane, WA. A first generation American, born to Guatemalan parents, Rick was born and raised in San Francisco. He discovered theatre in high school (St. Ignatius College Preparatory) and continued pursuing the art and craft of acting through Undergraduate (Santa Clara University) and Graduate (American Conservatory Theatre) degrees.
